A 40-year-old woman died on Friday when the car she was driving crashed into a rock face.

The accident happened about 8:05 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, when the grey Subaru Forester left Highway 3 as it was travelling westbound south of Cawston.

The woman was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Media reports indicate the victim was Tara Bowie, a former journalist who lived in the area.

Road conditions at the time of the accident were rated as good so they were not considered to be a contributing factor, an RCMP news release states.

Anyone who has any information about the crash, including dashboard camera video, is asked to call the RCMP’s South Okanagan Traffic Services in Keremeos at 250-499-2250.
