Driver flees scene after accident in Lake Country

A 28-year-old driver was sent to hospital Monday morning after he was hit by another vehicle on Highway 97.

LAKE COUNTRY – A 28-year-old driver was sent to hospital Monday morning after he was hit by another vehicle on Highway 97 Monday morning.

The accident happened at 7:40 a.m. when a four-door Infinity was rear-ended by a Ford Ranger at the intersection of Highway 97 and Sexsmith Road. The force of the impact pushed the Infinity into the back of a flat deck trailer parked on the side of the highway, causing significant damage to the front end and injuring the driver.

According to RCMP Const. Jesse O'Donaghey, the driver of the Ford Ranger failed to remain at the scene and is being sought by police.

The vehicle is described as a dark blue or purple Ford Ranger with a canopy and a damaged front end.

The driver of the Infinity, a 28-year-old Lake Country man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to KGH.
