KAMLOOPS - Downtown Kamloops is looking for local artists to showcase their talent in a unique way.

The neighbourhood business association says in a Facebook post artists and artist assistants are being sought after for new pieces for the back alley art gallery.

Through some of the back alleys in downtown Kamloops, murals cover the backs of buildings, and the neighbourhood is hoping to add more.

"Our goal is to create public spaces that are friendly, supportive, appealing, and safe," the Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association says on its website. "This program creates community partnerships between the local business and creative communities and provides an opportunity for local artists to showcase their talents, diversify the downtown business environment, and beautify public space."

The project will start June 4 and continue through to Sept. 14.

The association is looking for two lead mural artists and two artist assistants.
