LOGAN LAKE - Over $1,000 has been raised for a Logan Lake couple who lost their personal belongings in a house fire last week.

The couple had been renting a home for less than a week on Beryl Drive before an explosion and fire destroyed their home.

When Logan Lake Fire Rescue arrived on scene the home was engulfed in flames, the fire spreading through the roof and windows. The tenants were taken to Royal Inland Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Fire Rescue is investigating the cause of the fire, meanwhile the couple’s landlord is overwhelmed by community support garnered online for the couple.

He started an online fundraiser for them to help get them back on their feet.

“I rented my house out to two really good people,” he posted online. “As their landlord I feel absolutely terrible.”

So far, the page has garnered 25 donations in the amount of $1,080.

“I’m just amazed by all the help,” Schmidt said.
