Kamloops RCMP are wondering who, or what, some bones used to belong to.
Officers responded to Peterson Creek on Jan. 19 around 12:30 p.m. to investigate a report of bones found, according to an RCMP media release. Police were led to an area east of Peterson Creek above the 700-block of the East Trans Canada Highway. After attending the scene officers contacted the coroner.
“Right now, police are working with the B.C. Coroners Service to confirm if the bones are human and if so, who they belonged to,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release. “From there, the investigation will continue into the circumstances surrounding their discovery.”
Anyone with information relevant to the investigation, or who may have discovered any other bones in the area, is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file number 2023-2261.
An update will be provided when available, the release says.
