Direct flights between Kamloops and Victoria coming this fall
Direct flights between Kamloops and Victoria will be available this fall as Pacific Coastal Airlines is expanding services.
Starting in October, the airline will offer six weekly non-stop flights between the Kamloops airport and Victoria International Airport, according to a Pacific Coastal Airlines media release issued today, July 17.
"This is such an important route to our province’s capital for both pleasure and business and we look forward to working with Pacific Coastal on identifying more routes to serve our region,” Kamloops city councillor Bill Sarai said in the release.
Kamloops will be the airline's fourth destination served with the non-stop flights from Victoria, the others being Vancouver, Kelowna and Prince George. The Kamloops service is starting out as a seasonal winter route.
“We will be monitoring the route’s performance and will extend to year-round service if demand warrants," Johnathan Richardson the airline said in the release.
Victoria Airport Authority CEO Geoff Dickson said airline has developed a great schedule and an opportunity for Vancouver Islanders to explore the Kamloops region and for visitors to Victoria to experience all that it has to offer.
“Beyond the obvious efficiency and convenience for business travel to the provincial capital, this service is an excellent option for visiting friends and relatives, that often face unpredictable road conditions and ferry service interruptions to Vancouver Island,” Kamloops airport manager Ed Ratuski said in the release. "This new non-stop service also enhances opportunities for tourism and trade development at both ends of the route.”
The inaugural Victoria to Kamloops flight will be Oct. 17.
Passengers can book their flights on the airline's website, through the call centre at 1-800-663-2872 or by contacting a travel agent.
