KELOWNA - A redevelopment proposal for a property that has been vacant for more than a decade will come before council next week.
In 2005, development began on the 2.84 acre property at Sunset Drive and Clement Avenue across from Prospera Place — known as ‘dirt hill' — for a 20-storey Westin Hotel. However, shortly after dirt fill was loaded onto the site, the developer's financing ran out.
The new redevelopment proposal will see over 300 condominiums in two, 16-storey towers, located on the north and south ends of the property, according to Jeff Hudson of HM Commercial Group, the company selling the property.
According to Hudson, the development will also have commercial and restaurant space on the ground floors.
The rezoning and development application is to go to first reading at city council's regular meeting on Monday, Jan. 16.
The property is currently valued at $9.5 million.
