PENTICTON - A volunteer organization that makes life better for hospital patients is holding a special event at Penticton Regional Hospital this week.
There will be free cake and coffee from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 8, in recognition of Health Care Auxiliary Day in the front lobby of the hospital.
Penticton Hospital Auxiliary President June Revell-Quevillon says auxiliary volunteers try to provide the personal touch when it comes to hospital care. The volunteers visit and guide patients around the hospital in addition to operating the gift shop and organizing fund raising efforts to buy new medical equipment.
The hospital’s gift shop will be selling all items at 30 per cent off for the entire day.
Health Care Auxiliary Day was officially sanctioned by Lt-Gov. Judith Guichon. The day celebrates the efforts of more than 6,600 adults and 800 junior volunteers across the province, who last year donated more than 1.3 million volunteer hours and helped fundraise more than $7 million for health care facilities.
