Customer satisfaction top priority for this Kelowna grocery store
A Kelowna grocery store owner says getting to know his customers on a first-name basis and their food tastes is one of his top priorities.
Kelowna FreshCo offers quality products at low prices with its Compliments, Best Buy and Panache brands. Customers can find these products in every department.
They also price match any surrounding competitors so if a shopper sees a lower price elsewhere, FreshCo will match the price, flyer is required, however if you don't have one, no problem as they have a competitor flyer tracker that is handy in store, said Kelowna FreshCo owner Greg Frederick.
A new loyalty program where customers can redeem points for groceries and other items is rolling out at Kelowna’s FreshCo and other Empire Company Ltd. grocery stores across the country starting this September.
Sobeys Inc. parent Empire Company Ltd. has partnered with Scotiabank and Cineplex as co-owners of Scene+ and the loyalty program is aiming to become one of Canada’s largest.
“We’re super excited to be a partner with Scotiabank and Cineplex with their upcoming Scene+ loyalty program and we’ll be able to offer our customers fabulous, special member pricing and rewards points so they can redeem those points at our store and more than 700 restaurants across Canada,” Frederick said.
Shoppers can sign up for a Scene+ card now and start collecting points for the fall. Digital passports will also be available at the store’s location in September and a booth will be set up so shoppers can sign up on the spot.
“It’s our first loyalty program and it’s a great way to give back to our customers,” he said.
One of the Kelowna store’s most popular items, or “must haves” are the Krinos Twisters which comes in spinach and feta and cinnamon varieties. FreshCo also carries a variety of international brands.
“If you’re a foodie, you’ve got to come down to our store because we’ve got so many multicultural items,” Frederick said.
Frederick’s favourite part of his job is talking to customers, getting to know them and ensuring shoppers get the freshest quality product.
“It’s about getting to know our customers by name, it’s about looking for what they want and trying to tailor our business around that,” he said.
To find some secret deals, visit Kelowna FreshCo’s Facebook page every Wednesday night for an update on deals for the following day.
“Make sure you’re following those deals because there’s things you’re not going to find anywhere else,” he said.
Visit Kelowna FreshCo’s website and Facebook page for more information and become a shopper by visiting the grocery store at the corner of Highway 97 and Leckie Road.
