KELOWNA – A crash on Highway 97 near the Kelowna airport has slowed rush hour traffic.

RCMP say the crash involved a semi truck and a compact car in the southbound lanes of Highway 97 at Airport Way at about 2:49 p.m. today, Sept. 14.

Traffic is moving slowly with emergency crews on the scene and directing drivers through the area, according to an RCMP media release.

“It doesn’t appear that there are any serious injuries, however both the semi and the car will require tow trucks,” Cpl. Tania Carroll says in the release.

Carroll is asking motorists to stay out of the area if possible.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Anyone who witnessed this accident and who have not spoken to police are asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300. Or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net or by texting your tip to CRIMES (274637) ktown.
