B.C. reports 342 new COVID-19 cases, highest daily total since late May

VICTORIA - Daily COVID-19 cases in British Columbia continue to rise as the province reports 342 new infections, the highest count since late May.

There are 1,764 active infections, including 55 people who are hospitalized, but no new deaths.

Half of the latest cases were diagnosed in the Interior Health region, where more than 53 per cent of active cases are also located.

Active cases in the Fraser Health region have ticked up by 40 in the last day to 388, while active cases in the Vancouver Coastal health region are up by 46 to 258.

There have been 13 new cases in the Northern Health region for a total of 52 active cases and 32 diagnoses in the Island Health region for a total of 109 active cases.

The Health Ministry says in a statement that 81.5 per cent of eligible residents have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and nearly 68 per cent have had two.
