Man apprehended after police incident outside North Vancouver court

VANCOUVER - RCMP say a distraught man has been apprehended near the courthouse in North Vancouver.

Mounties say in a tweet that officers were dealing with the man on East 23 Street near St. Georges Avenue.

They say the situation has been resolved peacefully and officers will remain in the area while the investigation continues.

Images on social media showed RCMP vehicles parked on the street and officers wearing bulletproof vests, helmets and pointing their rifles downward.

The photographs also showed a man standing on stairs outside the provincial courthouse

No one immediately answered the phone at the court.
