A Kamloops delivery driver was able to fend off a thief last night and police are trying to find the suspect.
The courier was in the 1900 block of Curlew Drive at around 7 p.m. yesterday, Oct. 18, when a man opened the door to his small white van and tried to pull him out, according to a Kamloops RCMP news release.
He fought the suspect off, who then ran toward Oriole Drive. RCMP don't say if the delivery driver was injured.
Police are now looking to the public for help in identifying the attempted carjacker.
“We are asking area residents who have security or dash cameras to please review their video footage between 6:45 and 7 p.m. to determine if it caught the incident or the suspect as he fled,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn of Kamloops RCMP said in the release.
He's described as a Caucasian male, 6' tall with large-framed glasses and a large nose. He was wearing a dark blue hoodie at the time.
