PENTICTON - Police are investigating a robbery that took place on a remote rural road south of Penticton last night.

RCMP say a couple sleeping in a moving van on Old Kaleden Road were awakened around 11:30 p.m. yesterday, Aug. 14, by a man wearing a balaclava banging on a window and demanding their valuables.

The man said he had a gun.

"The couple complied and gave the man their credit cards," Penticton RCMP spokesperson Const. James Grandy says in a media release. "The man then smashed the van’s window and punctured two tires before he departed."

The two victims sought assistance from a nearby residence and police were called.

RCMP describe the suspect as a male with a dark complexion, brown eyes and around 5'10" tall. He was wearing a balaclava and drove away in a full-sized, black truck.

Anyone having information are encouraged to call the Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300, or Crime Stoppers, 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
