Two Kelowna men are facing charges after RCMP officers found drugs and weapons during a raid at a downtown Kelowna home.

Officers and a police dog executed a search warrant at a property located in the 1000 block of Lawson Avenue, Sept. 23, according to the RCMP in a news release. The raid was in connection with an active investigation into drug trafficking.

"During their search of the home, police seized quantities of suspected illicit drugs from inside the residence," Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Const. Solana Paré said in the release. "Our officers seized a variety of weapons including firearms, imitation firearms and prohibited weapons."

Two Kelowna men, a 44-year-old and a 34-year-old, were taken into custody and are currently in custody.

RCMP said the matter had been submitted to the Public Prosecution Service of Canada for consideration of charges.
