Cool, wet weekend in store for Kamloops

KAMLOOPS - This weekend should offer a reprieve from the hot, dry weather that has led to a number of wildfires burning around the region.

Today Environment Canada is calling for the temperature to reach 25 Celsius, a few degrees below seasonal normals of 29 C. There will be a mix of sun and cloud today along with a 30 per cent chance of showers.

Saturday and Sunday, temperatures will cool even more, with highs expected to reach only 21 C along with a 40 to 60 per cent chance of showers. Saturday also brings a risk of thunderstorms.

Things will warm up a bit to start the week though, temperatures are expected to reach 26 C on Monday and the skies will clear.

If you are heading to the Shuswap or Okanagan to enjoy your weekend, expect very similar weather, right down to rain and a risk of thunderstorms.
