OKANAGAN - Temperatures are expected to stay below normal this weekend but it won’t be long before we’re basking in sun and 30-degree temperatures again.
Environment Canada is calling for a high of 15 Celsius today, May 27, in Vernon and Kelowna and 19 C in Penticton. Saturday is expected to bring highs of 18 C to 20 C throughout the valley followed by a high of 20 C Sunday.
Beginning Monday the mercury will inch past the seasonal normal of 21 C as we head for temperatures in the 30s by the end of the week.
Overnight lows are expected to be just below the seasonal normal of 9 C all weekend.
Along with the slightly cooler temperatures will be lots of cloud cover and at least a chance of rain every day this weekend. Along with a chance of showers today the weather office is also calling for a risk of thunderstorm in the Vernon and Kelowna areas.
The snow level is expected to rise from 1,400 metres to 1,900 m this afternoon.
A special weather statement is in place for the Okanagan Connector today while snow falls over higher elevations between Merritt and Kelowna.
