The clouds, showers and below normal temperatures in the Okanagan and Kamloops will begin the week, but by Wednesday the sunshine will return.
Today, May 8, will be the coolest day of the week throughout the region. A high of 17 Celsius is forecast in Kelowna, 18 C in Penticton, 19 C in Vernon and 18 C in Kamloops, according to Environment Canada. Showers are forecast in all four cities with late afternoon thunderstorms a risk in the Okanagan late this afternoon.

“It’s going to be sunny and hot this weekend,” Environment Canada meteorologist Louis Kohanyi said.
Typically, temperatures range between lows of 7 C and highs 21 C for this time of year.
While the temperatures are expected to be much higher than normal, they aren’t expected to result in a heat warning, Kohanyi said.
He said the hot weather is coming into B.C. as a result of a ridge of high pressure system building from the Pacific, and that temperatures are expected to start return to a more normal range by early next week.
