A view of Kelowna from the Upper Mission Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017.

KELOWNA - A little bit of winter is returning to the Okanagan this weekend with cooler temperatures and flurries forecast.

Today, Feb. 23, is expected to be the warmest of the next few days, according to Environment Canada. A high of roughly 4 Celsius is predicted during a clear and sunny day. Some of that daytime warmth will escape this evening though, as temperatures drop to as low as -6 C overnight.

Tomorrow morning the day will start off with a chance of flurries but those will fade as the day progresses. A high of 3 C is expected for the Central Okanagan, while both the South and North Okanagan will be cooler. Overnight temperatures will drop significantly again to -8 C with cloudy periods.

The weekend will be a little less dramatic, as is Saturday is expected to hit a high of 3 C with a mix of sun and cloud. At night it’ll drop to -3 C as clouds move in, bringing a 70 per cent chance of flurries.

That weather will continue through Sunday, with a high of 1 C, flurries and cloudy skies during the day followed by more flurries, cloudy skies and a low of 6 C at night.

This weather is actually a little cooler than typical, as by the end of February the Okanagan normally has highs of 5 C and lows of -2 C.
