Cold long weekend ahead for Okanagan, but Family Day should be sunny

OKANAGAN – After a mild week, the Okanagan can expect some colder weather this weekend, but sun in time for Family Day.

Environment Canada is forecasting a cloudy day in Kelowna and Vernon today with a high of around -1 Celsius but with a low tonight of -9 C with most of the clouds clearing by morning.

Saturday in the North and Central Okanagan will see highs of -3 C during the day with sun and some cloud, but lows of -8 C at night. Sunday should be cloudy, around -1 C during the day with 40 per cent chance of flurries. The temperature could drop as low as -10 C overnight.

Family Day on Monday in Kelowna and Vernon is predicted to be mostly sunny and cold, with highs of -4 and lows around -9.

Penticton will see a mix of sun and cloud today with a high of 0 C with wind gusts of up to 40 km/h and a low of around -8 C tonight. Saturday’s forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud, some wind and daytime temperatures around 0 C. Lows are expected to reach -8 C at night.

Penticton could also see some snow Sunday with a 60 per cent chance of flurries, a high of -1 and lows reaching -10 C.

Holiday Monday in the South Okanagan should be sunny with highs around -4 C with a chance of flurries overnight.
