Chilly weather in Kamloops for the first work week of 2017

KAMLOOPS - The New Year is starting off sunny and cold before it becomes cloudy and cold.

It will be mainly sunny with a high of only -12 Celsius in Kamloops today, Jan. 3, according to Environment Canada. The forecast calls for a partly cloudy sky overnight with a low of minus 20.

The clouds roll in tomorrow with a high of -12 C, but with the wind up to 15 kilometres per hour, the windchill will be -27 C. The overnight low will be the same as the daytime high, -12 C.

Continuing cold and cloudy on Thursday with a high of -11 C, and again, the same overnight low of -11 C.

It will be a few degrees warmer on Friday, but still well below normal for this time of year with a high of -8 C and a low of -9 C.

Seasonal average temperatures are highs of about -1 C and lows of -8 C.
