KAMLOOPS - It’s time to get out the cold weather gear in Kamloops, as the city is about to experience some winter-like temperatures this week.

The good news is there is no need to get the snow shovel out just yet with no snow in the forecast.

Environment Canada says to expect double digit minus temperatures by mid-week in Kamloops before things start to warm up again by next weekend.

Today, Dec. 3, it will be mainly cloudy with a high of -3 Celsius and a low of -5 C tonight.

Cloudy conditions will prevail tomorrow, with a high of -1 C, but with 15 km/h winds, afternoon temperatures will feel like -5 C with the wind chill. Tomorrow’s overnight low will be -9 C.

Wednesday and Thursday the skies will clear, but it will be cold, with daytime highs of -6 C and overnight lows of -11C.

Temperatures are expected to begin moderating on Friday, under sunny skies, with a high of -6 C and a low of -8 C.

Daytime highs are expected to be back on the plus side under sunny skies by Sunday, with a high of 1 C under cloudy skies.

Normal temperatures at this time of year in Kamloops are highs of 1 C and lows of -5 C.
