Looking for a burger that pushes boundaries? Stacked high with toppings? Packed with flavour?

We took to social media to ask locals where they get their favourite burger in Kamloops and they responded.

Check out these 10 local joints for the best burgers in town. Your tastebuds will thank you later.

Red Beard is a favourite of locals for several reasons, one of which is their flavour-packed burgers. Their options are far from basic, and you may well find your new favourite here. Pictured above is their Brie and Bacon Burger.
Burger Highlight: The Brie and Bacon Burger comes with a beef patty, dijonaise, brie, smoked bacon, pickled shallots and mixed greens stuffed into a Portuguese bun.

Valhalla Smoke House is the new food truck on the block in Kamloops, and they specialize in smoked meats. Meat is certainly the focus of the burger pictured above, The Heathen. To find their truck, check their Facebook page, as they’re often on the move between local businesses and dealership parking lots.

Burger Highlight: The Heathen has a smoked brisket, bacon, European Weiners and pulled pork with all the other classic burger toppings piled on top.

If you’re looking for some variety and trying some unusual flavour combos, On the Rocks Pub offers an assortment of unique burgers you’ve likely never tried before. Ever wanted to try a Peanut Butter Burger? They’ve got it. Not feeling a beef patty? They’ve got tasty alternatives.

They’re well known for their beer, and for good reason. But a little local secret is that their burgers are just as tasty. The chefs put a lot of thought and creativity into the toppings, and presentation is always on point.
Burger Highlight: The Bright Eye Burger has a ground brisket and short rib patty, with provolone cheese, prosciutto, pickled red onion with house-made aioli on a potato bun.

While the Sandbar Grill is revered for their burgers and gorgeous riverside patio, one of their biggest selling points is that all their burgers come with two sides. Can’t choose between fries or salad? No problem. You can also get their house-made Mac & Cheese, baked beans or daily soup.
Burger Highlight: The Cock-A-Doodle-Doo comes with a sausage patty, bacon, jack cheese, garlic aioli topped with an over easy egg.

Check out this neighbourhood gem if you’re in the mood for classic pub fare. They offer four types of patties: beef, chicken, salmon and cod.
Burger Highlight:
The Mile High Burger is aptly named, towering with cheddar, mushrooms, bacon, and fried onions atop all the classic fixings on their Duffy’s Burger. It’s a burger and a half, all in one.

As their main focus is beer, you may not know how good the burgers are at Alchemy. While they only have two options, several locals faithfully choose this brewery for their burger fix.
Burger Highlight: The Glazed & Confused Burger is a fan favourite, served on a house-made brioche donut, topped with pork belly, bacon jam, American cheese, onion, pickle and Alchemy’s white and sweet barbecue sauces. If you’re not feeling adventurous, you can order your burger on a regular brioche bun.

You may not realize you’re looking for a burger with an Asian twist, until you try one at Cafe Burger Joy. They’ve got tons of options to choose from, all priced below $7 each. The burger pictured above is their Yakiso Burger, and yes, those are stir fried noodles.
Burger Highlight: The Oyster Burger is likely to be among the most unique burgers you’ve ever had. It comes with deep fried breaded oyster with tonkatsu sauce (like a spicy, fishy ketchup sauce), cabbage and mayo on a bun.

There’s nothing like Jamaican jerk chicken. You may be able to buy jerk sauce from the store, but let’s be honest, it’s not quite the same as an authentic, fresh made in house jerk. If you like jerk chicken, and you like burgers, the Jamaican Kitchen has done you a favour by combining the two together.
Burger Highlight: The Jerk Chicken Burger comes with jerk chicken breast, cheddar cheese, house-made jerk mayonnaise, classic veggie toppings and the option to add bacon.
