Charges possible after search and seizure at Williams Lake marijuana dispensary

WILLIAMS LAKE - A second search warrant has been executed at a Williams Lake pot dispensary, and charges could be laid.

Williams Lake RCMP say in a media release three people have been arrested in connection to the investigation. Investigators will be working with Crown and are pursuing charged of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

One of the people arrested is facing similar charges from a previous file, Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says in the release.

Police say during the search officers located and seized more than two kilograms of marijuana, a large sum of cash and property "directly related" to drug trafficking.

"The RCMP enforces the laws of Canada and, while we understand that there are changes coming, currently drug trafficking, including marijuana, is illegal. The RCMP continues to target illicit drug trafficking in the community and it is a high priority of the detachment," RCMP Insp. Jeff Pelley says in the release. "We take this very seriously and are committed to seeking evidence to support charges and hold people accountable who actively participate in these types of offences."
