KAMLOOPS - A man is facing charges after allegedly breaking into a Tranquille Road business over the weekend.

Tanner Edward Withrow, 40, is in custody on a number of charges in connection to a break in to a business on Kamloops's North Shore on Friday evening, March 16, including break and enter with intent to commit an offence, theft, possession of stolen property and willfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer.

He's also facing a separate charge of breaching his probation, according to online court documents.

Withrow is scheduled to appear in Kamloops Provincial Court on April 5 for a bail hearing.

At approximately 11 p.m. Friday night, Kamloops RCMP officers responded to a report of a break-in at a Tranquille Road business, after some alert neighbours heard the sound of breaking glass and called 911, Const. Kelly Butler said in a news release over the weekend.

Police arrived on scene within minutes and found the front window to the business smashed. Officers also encountered a man on the property who fled on foot upon seeing them, Butler said.

A short foot pursuit ensued and the suspect was taken into custody. He's not from the area.
