Celebrate 2015 Earth Hour by participating in the Energy Conservation Contest

VERNON - The City of Vernon is encouraging the community to celebrate Earth Hour 2015 on Saturday, March 28 at 8:30 pm.

Earth Hour started in 2007 as a lights-off event to raise awareness about climate change. It has since engaged over 7,000 cities in 162 countries and territories worldwide. The symbolic hour has grown into one of the largest grassroots movements for environmental awareness globally.

Vernon is encouraging residents, students and businesses to participate and share their Earth Hour actions to conserve energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Post a picture, poem or a description of a conservation action on Vernon Sustainability’s Earth Hour Facebook event page to enter a draw for 1 of 10 solar lanterns by April 5, 2015. Additional information is available at https://www.facebook.com/VernonSustainability.
