Car-jacking of a blue Fiat stopped by good samaritan

KELOWNA - Police are looking to speak to a good samaritan who helped stop a man who forcibly removed a vehicle from its owner.

Kelowna RCMP say in a release, they responded to an attempted robbery yesterday, July 5, at 7:20 p.m., at the Mission Place Shopping Centre on K.L.O Road. Const. Jesse O'Donaghey says the suspect pulled the victim from a blue Fiat, assaulted the victim and then demanded the keys to his car.

"The suspect was chased from the scene by an unknown man, a good samaritan. RCMP are seeking the individual who intervened and helped stop this carjacking," O'Donaghey says.

The suspect was described to police as:

  • 5'10" tall
  • Stocky build
  • wearing a bright orange hat, grey hoodie and dark shorts
