VERNON - Canada's first space commander will help celebrate the country's 150th birthday in Vernon.

Col. Chris Hadfield will be at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre in May to share stories, images, songs and ideas.

Hadfield will look "at the history and future of Canada through its people and the land itself," according to a media release.

He will perform songs such as "In Canada" and "Beyond the Terra." Hadfield will tell stories from career as an astronaut and talk about the people he's met along the way.

"Chris customizes his performance to each audience, and leaves everyone with the sense that Canada truly is 'out of this world,'" the release says.

Tickets for the May 14 performance will go on sale tomorrow morning, March 17 at 10 a.m.

The show will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $69.50 at livenation.com.
