While there’s not a lot of snow falling in Kelowna recently it’s bound to return, leaving many residents wondering when they’re finally going to have their street plowed.

A new interactive service called Snowbot — which blends chat and voice bot functions as it can both type and talk — allows Kelowna residents to connect with the city by phone or online to get the details.

By calling 250-469-8600 and punching option 7, callers can give their street address and be told not only when the street was last plowed but when it’s expected to be plowed again.

The same service and same information is available online on any Kelowna.ca webpage. Click on the blue circle in the bottom right hand corner of the page and go to Snow Removal Service.

“We manage and respond to hundreds of phone calls and resident inquiries every time there’s a major snowfall,” Infrastructure Operations Department manager Geert Bos said in a news release, issued today, Dec. 15.

“These are often reoccurring questions and, with this new service, our crews can focus on the task at hand while residents can find the answers they need without spending their time on hold.”

Snow clearing updates are automatically posted here.

“We’ve heard from residents that they want 24/7, online access to city services,” Intelligent Cities manager Andreas Boehm said in the release. “Our chatbots and other digital tools are some of the ways we’re meeting that demand."
