Authorities in Northern California have identified a suspect in two separate fatal stabbings in the same wooded area on two subsequent nights.

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that 26-year-old Malik Dosouqi is being treated at a hospital for injuries and will be booked into jail after he's medically cleared. An attorney who can speak on his behalf has not yet been assigned.

Authorities were back at the scene of a fatal stabbing searching for evidence Tuesday when they found a second victim suffering from stab wounds. Thirty-two-year old Abdulmalek Nasher of Pacifica died late Monday and 31-year-old John Pekipaki died late Tuesday.

Police say both died from multiple stab wounds.

Authorities in Northern California say deputies who returned to the scene of fatal stabbing for evidence found a second victim suffering from stab wounds and a suspect fleeing.

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office says a deputy driving a desolate road found the first victim Monday in a densely wooded area. Authorities did not identify the man, but his family told KGO-TV he was Abdul Mailk, a cab driver who was working when he was killed.

The office says that when deputies returned to the site Tuesday, they heard a man calling for help and saw a suspect fleeing in a car. The victim had also been stabbed and died at the scene.

The suspect was taken into custody. No names have been released.

Investigators are trying to determine if the two slayings are connected.
