Latest: Woman arrested in death of deaf sister in California

LOS ANGELES - The Latest on the arrest of a woman on suspicion of killing her sister (all times local):

5:30 p.m.

Los Angeles police say a woman arrested on suspicion of killing her deaf and partially blind sister three years ago placed the woman in a garage and then set the building on fire to make the death look accidental.

Jill Blackstone was arrested Wednesday in Baltimore, Maryland. It wasn't immediately clear if she has an attorney.

Blackstone's sister, Wendy Blackstone, died in March 2015 along with two of her pet dogs.

Investigators believe Jill Blackstone was motivated by frustration at the emotional and financial hardship of taking care of her sister, who was deaf and partially blind.

Blackstone is expected to be extradited to Los Angeles to face charges.

Los Angeles police say a woman has been arrested out of state in connection with the death of her deaf and partly blind sister three years ago in Southern California.

Detective Dave Peteque tells the Daily News that Jill Blackstone was taken into custody Wednesday on a murder warrant. Peteque didn't say in which state the arrest was made. It wasn't immediately known if Blackstone has an attorney.

Her sister, Wendy Blackstone, was found unconscious in March 2015 near Los Angeles in an enclosed garage filled with carbon monoxide. The 49-year-old later died.

The newspaper says Jill Blackstone worked as a TV producer for programs including "The Jerry Springer Show" and "Family Court with Judge Penny."

She's expected to be transferred to Los Angeles to face charges.
