The Latest: Building jumper dies after hitting another man

GLENDALE, Calif. - The Latest on a man who jumped from a building and landed on a pedestrian (all times local):

9:30 p.m.

Authorities say a man has died after jumping from a Los Angeles-area building and hitting a man who was walking below with his two children.

Glendale police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot says a man in his 20s attempted suicide Tuesday afternoon by plunging from the seventh-story roof of a parking structure at the Americana at Brand mall.

KCBS-TV reports that the man was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The jumper struck a 49-year-old father who was walking with his two children. That man was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

His children weren't hurt.

Authorities say a man who apparently tried to kill himself by jumping from a building at a Los Angeles-area shopping mall landed on another man below him and both have been hospitalized.

Glendale police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot says a man in his 20s plunged from the seventh-story roof of a parking structure at the Americana at Brand mall Tuesday afternoon.

He landed on a man below who had two children with him.

Lightfoot says the jumper had "significant, serious" injuries.

She says the other man also was injured but he's expected to survive.

The children weren't hurt.
