The Latest: LA interstate reopens after crash scene cleared

LOS ANGELES - The Latest on a tanker-truck crash that for a time closed a major interstate in Southern California (all times local):

5:45 p.m.

All lanes of Interstate 405 have been reopened in Los Angeles after crews cleaned up the scene of a tanker-truck accident, the California Department of Transportation says.

The tanker truck was hauling 9,400 gallons (35,580 litres) of liquid propane when it crashed Sunday into the concrete divider and overturned.

Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott says Sunday that none of the highly flammable substance leaked.

Officials say the truck driver suffered only minor injuries in the single-vehicle rollover crash.

All lanes of Interstate 405 are closed in Los Angeles after a tanker truck hauling 9,400 gallons (35,580 litres) of liquid propane crashed into the concrete divider and overturned.

Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott says Sunday that none of the highly flammable substance has leaked. He says officials decided to close the highway in the Sherman Oaks area out of an abundance of caution.

Officials say the truck driver suffered only minor injuries in the single-vehicle rollover crash.

Scott says crews will transfer the propane to another tanker before righting the truck and towing it away.

There's no estimate for when the key north-south highway will reopen. Motorists are urged to find alternate routes.
