Burnaby man killed in Kelowna crash, witnesses sought

August 13, 2019 - 9:50 AM

KELOWNA - A Burnaby man is dead following a late night collision at the corner of Harvey Avenue and Cooper Road.

When officers arrived to the intersection at Aug. 13 just after 12:45 a.m. they discovered a Cadillac SUV had been travelling east bound on Harvey Avenue and collided with a Honda Accord travelling north bound on Cooper Road.

The driver of the Honda Accord, a 30-year-old man from Burnaby, was transported by the BC Ambulance Service to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The other driver sustained minor injuries.

“While it is early in the investigation, drugs and alcohol are not factors in this crash," Cpl. Meghan Foster of the Kelowna RCMP said in a press release.  “A woman who spoke with the responding paramedics, identified herself as a witness to the crash.  To advance this investigation, officers would like this woman to contact the Kelowna RCMP.”

The scene of the crash was closed for several hours for processing but has since re-opened. Investigators are currently in the midst of trying to identify potential witnesses and canvassing the area for video surveillance in an effort to determine what caused the collision.
