PENTICTON - Thousands of people have purchased tickets for Boonstock music festival this August long weekend; some are camping, some are staying in hotels or with friends and family. But what about the people travelling from out of town looking for another option?

People have been posting “wanted” ads to classified sites like kijiji.ca hoping to get a lead on a place to stay during the Boonstock weekend, August 1-4. But organizers assured the camping grounds themselves would be enough room for everyone.

“We’ve got lots and lots of space for people to camp,” Barb Haynes said.

She said people are coming to Penticton from as far away as Japan for the festival, and they may be looking for a different kind of experience. It’s similar, she said, to the idea of couch surfing when people travel to Europe.

While advertising on classifieds may seem out of the ordinary and possibly concerning (or desperate) to others looking for a place to stay, Haynes said there is plenty of space for the thousands of people attending the festival.
