"Police have been in contact with Mr. Friesen’s family, who supported releasing his name publicly to update those who have been actively looking for him since his disappearance," Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

The cause of his death has not yet been determined, but police do not suspect any criminality was involved.

"The family has asked for privacy at this time," Evelyn said.
