Thunderstorms passing through the Southern Interior today could produce some strong and gusty winds, and boaters are being advised to be cautious.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Okanagan and Shuswap because conditions are just right for the development of thunderstorms this afternoon, June 22.

Forecasters say the thunderstorms have the potential to produce winds gusting up to 70 km/h.

Recreational boaters are advised to be prepared and use caution out on the lakes, the statement says.
