Blazers burn Rockets 4-1

KELOWNA - The Kamloops Blazers defeated the Kelowna Rockets 4-1 on Friday night at Prospera Place.

Kelowna opened the scoring as Reid Gardiner scored unassisted at 11:05 of the first frame. Garrett Pilon responded for the Blazers with an unassisted marker himself and the game was knotted at 1-1 after 20 minutes of play.

Quinn Benjafield pulled the Blazers ahead by one 1:22 into the second period. That was it for scoring in the second.

5:32 into the final stanza Rudolfs Balcers scored followed by Colin Shirley who scored a shorthanded goal at 12:22. Shirley's goal would prove to be the final dagger as the Rockets fell 4-1.

Michael Herringer made 28 saves on 32 shots.

The Blazers bring the series to 3-2 in Kelowna's favour.

Game six goes on Sunday at 7:00pm in Kamloops.

If necessary, game seven will be on Tuesday April 4th, at 7:05pm at Prospera Place.
