Kamloops and the Okanagan are along for the ride with rising gas prices throughout B.C. going into the Thanksgiving long weekend.

The average gas price in B.C. today, Oct. 9, is $1.69.6, while the national average is just $1.51.9, according to information supplied by gasbuddy.com.

The cheapest gas, aside from Costco, in Kelowna is at Esso, in Kamloops and Vernon it’s at Super Save Gas, and in Penticton the cheapest gas is at Gen7 Fuel Station.

Costco usually has other gas prices beat by four or five cents a litre since people need to pay for a membership to get it, but in Kelowna today Costco’s price is $1.56.9 and many gas stations are at $1.59.9.

These prices may seem grim but last Thanksgiving the average gas price in B.C. was $1.79.4. Prices have gone up about 7 cents from the provincial average of $162.5 last week.
