VERNON - A cat found badly injured at the side of the road is now in the care of the Vernon branch of the B.C. SPCA.

Stallone the cat, that was most likely hit by a car, has a fractured pelvis, a dislocated bone and a fractured bone in his left hind leg, according to a media release from the SPCA. His owner could not be found.

“Stallone’s hind left leg has been amputated and his pelvis is expected to heal with time," Vernon branch manager Chelsea Taylor says in the release. "Once his injuries heal his anemia is also expected to resolve.”

Stallone’s medical bills are expected to reach about $2,272, and he will have to remain at the SPCA for a couple of months before he’s ready for adoption.

He has already charmed the staff according to Taylor.

"Even in pain he is purring and reaches for your hand with his head. He has a fighting spirit.”

If you'd like to make a donation to help cover Stallone's vet bills go to the B.C. SPCA's website here.
