PHOENIX - The Latest on allegations of sexual harassment against an Arizona state lawmaker (all times local):

2 p.m.

The state's top business group is calling for the resignation of a powerful Republican state lawmaker who has been accused of inappropriate sexual comments or actions by several women.

Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry spokesman Garrick Taylor said Friday that Rep. Don Shooter should step down. He said that's what's best for the institution.

House Speaker J.D. Mesnard also suspended Shooter from his role as chairman of the powerful appropriations committee on Friday. He said an ongoing investigation into numerous allegations made it impossible for him to serve in that job.

The actions came as the publisher of Arizona's largest newspaper joined a growing list of women who say Shooter subjected them to inappropriate sexual comments or actions.

Shooter says he asked for the investigation and can't comment further.

The publisher of Arizona's largest newspaper has joined a growing list of women who say a top Republican state lawmaker subjected them to inappropriate sexual comments or actions.

Arizona Republic Publisher Mi-Ai Parrish wrote in a column published online Friday that state Rep. Don Shooter made an inappropriate comment to her during a meeting last year in his statehouse office about legislation the newspaper opposed.

Parrish wrote that Shooter told her he had done everything on his "bucket list" — except for "those Asian twins in Mexico."

Parrish is Asian-American.

Shooter is the subject of an Arizona House investigation launched this week after a lawmaker accused him of repeatedly making unwanted advances. He denies Rep. Michelle Ugenti-Rita's allegations, but other women have come forward with similar charges.

His attorney says Shooter requested the probe and has no additional comment.
