SALMON ARM - Police in Salmon Arm are asking for the public's help after vandalism and thefts from numerous Canada Post public mailboxes.

The incidents happened between Jan. 25 and Jan. 27, Staff Sgt. Scott West says in a news release. At least eight separate public mailboxes have been reported as damaged in the Salmon Arm area in that time frame.

West says the incidents occurred in the 1800 block of 13 Avenue SE, the 2500 block of Auto Road SE, the 4800 block of 10 Avenue SE, the 1900 block of 10 Street SW and the 600 block of Foothills Road.

In all of these cases, mailboxes were either knocked over or damaged.

In the 280 block of 10 Avenue SE, a mailbox was damaged and an unknown person, or persons, were able to gain entry which led to four separate mailboxes being compromised.

West says it's not yet known if any mail was taken.

"It is recommended that residents collect their mail daily to minimize the impact of thefts from occurring," West says in the release.

If anyone has any information regarding these incidents, you're asked to contact Salmon Arm RCMP at 250-832-6044 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
