Assault at Acadia Inn in Kamloops

March 26, 2019 - 3:58 PM

KAMLOOPS - Kamloops RCMP have a man in custody and are seeking a second man following an assault in the city earlier today.

A Kamloops patrol officer was stopped by a man while on duty near the Acadia Inn on Columbia Street around 12:40 p.m. today, March 26, according to an RCMP media release. The complainant reported two men, known to the victim, allegedly entered his room while one of the perpetrators brandished a knife.

They demanded the victim’s wallet, following which a fight took place before the suspects fled the scene.

Police officers located one suspect a short distance away and he was taken into custody without incident.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says the victim received minor injuries as a result of the altercation.

She says the 33-year-old suspect is a Kamloops resident, who was previously known to police. Police continue to seek the identity and location of the second suspect.

Anyone with information regarding the second suspect’s identity is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000, or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
