Art Exposed Jurors' Choice Awards announced at well-attended opening

KAMLOOPS -- Close to 600 people attended the opening of the Kamloops Arts Council's 5th annual ART EXPOSED exhibition at the Old Courthouse last Friday, Feb. 27.

ART EXPOSED is a 10-day open community art exhibition featuring work by area artists of all ages and in all mediums. As part of the exhibit, a team of jurors awarded prizes to several of the 202 entered works. The list of awards appears below.

While it's nice to be recognized, the emphasis of Art Exposed is on community engagement, exposure and feedback, says Kathy Sinclair, executive director of the Kamloops Arts Council.

"Art Exposed celebrates the talent in our community," she stated. "Some participating artists practise art full-time. Others may spend their days as baristas, doctors, students, social workers, teachers or administrators, and their spare time creating art. They're all artists, and we celebrate each and every one."
