The daily count of new cases of COVID-19 hit an even 100 today, Sept. 9.

That brings the total to date in B.C. to 6,691 according to a joint statement issued by B.C. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Minister of Health Adrian Dix.

Two of the new cases were in the Interior Health region bringing the total to 462 of which 16 are active cases with people being in isolation but no one is in hospital.

Earlier today, the province outlined plans to spend more money, buy more flu vaccines and hire more people to try to keep pressure off hospitals this fall as influenza and cold season hit.

"The steps each of us takes today and in the coming weeks, including taking a few minutes to get your influenza immunization, will make a difference tomorrow,” the release states. There have been no new deaths, leaving that total at 213 but there are 37 people in hospital, 15 of whom are in intensive care.

There are 1,378 active cases with 3,101 people being monitored by health authorities while 5,086 people have recovered.
