MICHAEL JACKSON FAMILY RESPONDS TO "LEAVING NEVERLAND" DOCUMENTARY

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Michael Jackson's family says new allegations of sexual abuse would never have been made if Jackson were alive to defend himself. The Jackson family released a statement in response to the new documentary, "Leaving Neverland." The Jacksons say they have always turned the other cheek when people have gone after members of the family because that is "the Jackson way." However, they say they cannot just stand by "while this public lynching goes on." The film centres on Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who say as boys Jackson abused them. The Jackson estate calls them "perjurers" because they had testified Jackson never molested them. "Leaving Neverland" director Dan Reed says he had no doubt about the men's claims. The documentary will air on HBO this spring.

FILM BASED ON BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN FAN PREMIERES AT SUNDANCE

PARK CITY, Utah (AP) — A film based on the memoir of a British Muslim boy who is inspired by Bruce Springsteen's music has gotten the blessing of The Boss himself. "Blinded By The Light" is based on journalist Sarfraz Manzoor's book and was directed by "Bend It Like Beckham" director Gurinder Chadha. The film premiered at Sundance Film Festival this weekend. Chadha and Manzoor met Springsteen at a premiere in 2010 when Springsteen recognized Manzoor and came over to say that he had read his book. Chadha says Springsteen agreed then to the film, but it took them seven years to develop a script. She says it's because they wanted to make sure Springsteen would approve given that they were using his life's work. The film is set for wider release but a date has not been set.

WARPED TOUR WILL HOLD 25th ANNIVERSARY EVENTS

UNDATED (AP) — The Warped Tour said goodbye for good last year — or did it? Founder Kevin Lyman has announced three Warped Tour 25th anniversary events for this summer. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland will host a concert featuring Warped bands on June 8. The Rock Hall also will run an exhibit on the Warped Tour that will feature instruments played by members of Fall Out Boy, No Doubt, Rancid and Reel Big Fish and stage clothing worn by Joan Jett and Ice-T. Another Warped concert is set June 29-30 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. A third will be held July 20-21 in Mountain View, California. Lyman says the anniversary events will bring the atmosphere of a classic Warped Tour, but on a scale that could not be done on a national tour.
