New publisher named for Homer, Kenai papers

KENAI, Alaska - A new publisher is leading both the Homer News and the Peninsula Clarion in Kenai.

Sound Publishing Inc., which owns both newspapers, appointed Jeff Hayden as publisher. He started his post Monday.

Terry Ward, regional publisher and Sound Publishing vice-president, says he's pleased to put the newspapers in Hayden's capable hands. He says Hayden "has a deep-rooted desire to help local businesses with their marketing and a passion for community journalism."

The 62-year-old Hayden moves to Alaska from Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania, where he most recently worked as a publisher for GateHouse Media. Sound Publishing purchased the two papers, along with the Juneau Empire, from GateHouse last year.

Sound Publishing is a subsidiary of Black Press, a Victoria, British Columbia company with publications in Canada, Washington, Hawaii, Alaska and California.
