12:35 p.m.

Police on Alaska's Kodiak Island say a student has denied talking about shooting up her school, which was placed in lockdown after police were called to investigate.

Kodiak Police Chief Ronda Wallace says authorities determined a female student reportedly made the comments at the high school and middle school Tuesday morning. Wallace says the girl was overheard by another student, who reported the comments to a substitute teacher. Earlier reports said the teacher overheard the student's statement.

Wallace said the girl denied making any such comments. Wallace told The Associated Press earlier Tuesday the student was heard saying "something to do with losing it and shooting up the school."

After the comments were reported, responding officers searched the school and conducted interviews before determining there was no credible threat.
