The Coast Guard says three people suffered burns in a fire at a remote fishing lodge on Kodiak Island.

Chief Petty Officer Shawn Eggert says the fire started early Thursday at a fishing lodge at Uyak (OO-yak) Bay. The lodge is a former cannery.

A fishing boat, the Alaskan, transported the victims to the village of Larsen Bay. A Coast Guard helicopter flew them to Kodiak for treatment.

Eggert says people at Uyak Bay were fighting the fire and the Coast Guard is staying in contact with the fishing boat in case other injured people need to be flown out.

Alaska State Troopers are attempting to reach the lodge to investigate. Spokeswoman Megan Peters says it's too early to say whether all people at the lodge have been accounted for.
