Airport numbers continue historic climb

Improvements are being made at the Kamloops Airport as it continues to see increased traffic.

KAMLOOPS - Numbers continue to soar at Fulton Field with yet another increase in monthly travelers in July.

Northern works and people visiting friends and family in Kamloops continue to push the increase, which saw about 1,600 more travellers in July 2014 than July 2013. Those 25,000 people bring the year to date total to more than 182,000, up 8.8 per cent over the same time period last year.

The number of airplane movements has also increased, largely due to wildfire operations.

Construction continues at the airport as well. A new business servicing charter and corporate travel as well as a new staff parking lot are both under construction. The new parking lot will free up 80 stalls for the public in the main parking lot.
